Weekend Breakfast Is Different

The weekday struggle is real. Every morning I swear I’ll do better. The night before I’ll hype myself up and visualize waking up early after a restful night’s sleep to enjoy an intentionally made healthy breakfast. Then I’d prepare my husband’s breakfast and lunch. Get in a morning stretching session along with a short Bible study followed by the shower get ready process which would end in plenty of time to get to work early.

But this weekday ideal rarely comes about. For one reason or another I always find myself scrambling to be ready for work on time, despite a shockingly short commute. I love sleep too much to get up earlier than I have to, I don’t like eating breakfast too early, and I take too long of showers to get much else done.

Turns out more than half of adults end up with less than thirty minutes for a morning routine for themselves. Skipping breakfast is normalized, if there’s no time for it it’s the first to go. But having a good morning feels like setting up the day for success. It sucks that so many of us sacrifice that time to other things. I think it stems from having unrealistic expectations and just… not prioritizing myself in the right way.

The weekends are for what we don’t have time for regularly. So I made yummy breakfasts, spent much needed quality time with my husband, went to church, and pledged to do better this coming week. This time I’ll try Mel Robbins 6-Step Morning Routine which I found by Googling “healthy morning habits”. Feel free to read about it below and try it with me!
